The morning of April 20, 2024, woke up to the rumble of thunder and lightning as dark clouds cast a heavy shadow over Goan skies.
It was only moments later that Goa experienced its first share of pre-monsoon showers that came as a blessing in disguise, and a much-needed respite from the soaring temperatures of summer.
For some, the happiness of the pitter-patter was short lived when they were greeted by waterlogging nightmares on the streets of Panjim and neighbouring areas.
People were also greeted with no response from their vehicles as their bikes refused to start, amidst the chaos of searching for old raincoats and worrying about getting to work in time.
As per their website, the India Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, squall and strong surface winds for Goa on April 20, 2024.
Right from both Mandovi bridges getting flooded to people having little to no road to walk on, the rains brought in an unpleasant glimpse of what Goa may possibly have to deal with once the monsoons actually arrive.
... enjoy the rains, have a nice hot cup of tea, and above all, stay safe and be careful of where you set foot because the bottom of a pothole is not a nice place to be.
