Mangoes, jackfruits and chickoos are just some of the fruits that grow in Goa. Not only are they enjoyed in the form of table fruits, but they are also used to create a variety of local culinary delights.

MANGADA

Mangada is Goa’s most well-known traditional jam, and is prepared using mangoes.

PERADA

With its origins in Brazil, perada was introduced into Goa by the Portuguese. It is a guava cheese with a chewy texture.

WINE

Besides eating them, jambul, mango, jackfruit, custard apple, pineapple, chickoo and guava are just some of the fruits which are used to make wines in Goa.

SATTA

Satta, or fruit leather – which are thin slices of fruit pulp – are another local delicacy made from jackfruit and mango.

FRUIT SALAD

This sweet dish is commonly served as a dessert on special occasions and weddings in Goa, and contains fruits such as grapes, bananas and apples in addition to other ingredients.

FILOZ
