Glimpses of the Festival of Plants and Flowers 2023 @ Siolim

The 31^st edition of the Festival of Plants and Flowers was held recently at SFX School, Siolim. ‘Let millets bee in our meals’ was the theme of the festival this year.

BEHIND THE EVENT

The event, organised by Team Agricos Alumni Association, in association with Green Heritage Eco Club of SFX School, Siolim, also celebrated National Honey Bee Day.

HONEY BEE DAY

During the festival, there was a session on bee-keeping, supported by the Goa Khadi Village Industries Board.

HONEY, HONEY

Local varieties of honey, in a host of colours and aromas, were seen at the Best Honey Competition.

MILLET SONG

FC Goa drummer, Carlos Gonsalves (left); singer Olavo 'O'luv' Rodrigues (right) and Diogo performed the theme song on millets.

FANCY DRESS

There was creativity galore at the fancy dress competition for students, which was based on the theme ‘Millets’.

BLOOMIN' LOVELY

A variety of ornamental plants were on sale at the venue.

MILLET PROJECTS

Students of Spring Valley HS explain their project to Chairman of WGKF, Dr Ajit Shirodkar; and ZAO Mapusa, Sampatti Dhargalkar, an ex-student of SFX School.

FINE FOOD

Principal of SFX, Fr Santow John MSFS, samples the award winning entries of the cooking competition. IHMCT&AN Goa, Porvorim, won the first prize at the event.

THE MILLET BOOK

A book, entitled Millets in our Meals, was released during the festival.

FIRST PRIZE

The project of Chubby Cheeks Spring Valley High School, Pilerne, which showcased muffins, brownies, cookies, noodles and traditional tizan, amil and satva, made by students, won the first prize.

SECOND PRIZE

The project by Keerthi Vidyalaya, Siolim, won second prize.

THIRD PRIZE

Lourdes Convent High School, Saligao, won third prize for their project.
