FESTIVE SWEETS
In Goa, a fair just isn’t wouldn’t be a fair without the all-important brightly-coloured sweets, locally known as kaddio boddio or khajem.
From spatulas to folding book rests to key holders – all made of wood – this is one of those stalls which is a hit among those who root for eco-friendly products.
While not sustainable, plastic goods are pocket-friendly, and household items like trays, pots, buckets, mugs, containers, piggy banks and more are always seen at fairs.
Ceramic jars, known as buyao in local parlance, were traditionally used to store pickles, solam (kokum) and salt, among other things, and are often on sale at local fairs.
