Every year, following incessant rains during the monsoons, we hear about dam gates being opened in order to release excess water. Here are some of Goa's most well-known dams.

1. SALAULIM DAM

The Salaulim dam, located in Ugem village of Sanguem district in Goa is a multi-purpose dam serving irrigation and drinking water requirements.

2. ANJUNEM DAM

The Anjunem dam is the second largest dam in Goa. Located in Anjunem village in Sattari district, the primary purpose of this dam is to irrigate agricultural land in Bicholim and Sattari taluka.

3. SAL DAM

Located in Salem, Goa, this impressive dam spans the width of the tranquil Sal River, offering a serene and picturesque setting ideal for picnickers and nature enthusiasts, alike.

4. QUEPEM DAM

Quepem dam, nestled in the southern part of Goa amidst lush greenery and rolling hills, beckons with its serene waters that attract a diverse array of avian species, creating a paradise for birdwatchers.

5. CHAPOLI DAM

Located approximately 1 km northeast of Chaudi village in Canacona, this dam not only draws people to its scenic location, but is also surrounded by verdant green pastures.

6. AMTHANE DAM

Situated in Bardez taluka, this dam is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, especially the surrounding hills and views of the Sahyadri mountain range. It is a popular destination among both locals and tourists, alike.
