Poking your nose around is usually not a great idea. Well, not unless you are visiting Doja Gin's East Side distillery in South Goa.
Mixed and matched, the name 'Doja' is derived by putting together the syllables, 'Japan' and 'Indo', which is how India is known in Japan, thus, creating 'Doja'.
Located in the Sao Jose de Areal Industrial Estate, in South Goa, the friendly face of distillery chief, Victor De Benito is the first one you will see upon arriving at the distillery...
... after which, it is all fun and games as Victor walks you through the process of how their gin is made, and the ingredients and methods used to create the bottled goodness.
You will also get the chance to get an up-close view of the Holstein Still used to make gin and the wooden barrels used to age rum before it is bottled.
And of course, sipping and savouring is all part of the process, provided you are 21 years of age and above.
And, if this adventure is one that you wish to take back, then purchasing a bottle signed by the distiller himself is always one way to keep revisiting the experience.
