BHAGWAN MAHAVIR WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

This sanctuary is located 53 km from Panjim, and spans an area of 240 sqkm in the Western Ghats. Being rich in biodiversity, it is a great site for bird-watching. And, while you're there, don't forget to visit the ancient Tambdi Surla temple.

NETRAVALI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Located in Verlem in the Sanguem taluka, this sanctuary covers an area of approx 211 sqkm, and borders Karnataka's Dandeli Tiger Reserve. The sanctuary is home to diverse wildlife including Indian bison, Malabar Giant Squirrels and leopards, as well as a variety of rare birds and butterflies.

MOLLEM NATIONAL PARK

Mollem National Park is a part of the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. It features a Nature Education Centre, a 25 km dirt track for wildlife viewing, and a watchtower, while animals such as gaurs and leopards can be spotted at the park.

MHADEI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

This sanctuary, with its 208 sqkm of lush, green forest, is home to panthers, sloth bears and deer, among other animals. Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Sanguem taluka, roughly 52 km from Panjim.

BONDLA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

At just 8 sqkm, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is rather small compared to the others. This popular picnic spot also features a botanical garden, nature trails with guides, and accommodation in the form of cottages and dormitories.
