FOR A BUNDLE OF JOY

Locals and devotees offer a cucumber to St Anne as they pray for her intercession for the gift a child. They recite, 'Senhora, Tomai Pepino, Dai Me Menino’, which translates to ‘Lady, take this cucumber and give me a child’.

GESTURE OF GRATITUDE

Devotees, who are eventually blessed with the gift of a child, return on the feast day with the child as a sign of thanksgiving for their favour having been granted.

MUSIC GALORE

The Goa Police brass band performed some beautiful music at the mass, which was a feast for the ears.

TRADITIONAL FAIR

The feast was celebrated by locals as well as people from diverse religious backgrounds. After the high mass, people stopped at the fair to buy khajem (festive sweets) and roasted gram.
