Devotion, reverence mark Colva's annual 'fama' in Goa

On Monday, October 14, the fama de Menino Jesus was celebrated at the Our Lady of Merces (Mercy) Church in Colva, South Goa, with traditional fervour and reverence.

TOGETHER IN WORSHIP

People attended church services from early morning, marking the day with a mixture of devotion and anticipation. Many lighted candles and filled the pews as the sound of hymns filled the air.

Every softly murmured prayer and each flickering candle symbolised a sincere tribute to the Infant Jesus, a personal reflection of devotees' hopes and struggles.

Mothers cradling their newborns brought them before the statue of Infant Jesus for blessing and to express gratitude.

Goan sugary treats in the stalls close to the church evoked a sense of celebration. Most who came for the fama took back a little of this sweetness.
