'Dakshin Utsav 2024' was a little bit of South India in Goa

CELEBRATING THE SOUTH

From traditional dosa to uttapam to idlis to Chettinad, V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE), Manora, Raia, recently held 'Dakshin Utsav 2024', organised by the third year students, to celebrate South Indian heritage.

SPICE OF LIFE

The campus at Manora, Raia, came to life with the tantalising aroma of spices as students showcased their culinary skills with live cooking demos at various food stalls.

SMOKIN' HOT

At the live stations, student chefs brought out the unique and spicy flavours of Dakshin, with dishes like Rasa Wada, Kilangu Varuval, Podi Idli and more.

ALL IN THE DÉCOR

The charming decor, complete with banana leaves, wildflowers and marigold garlands, evoked the essence of traditional South Indian festivals.

DRESSED TO THE NINES

On the occasion, the male students were dressed in a white mundu or veshti, and most of the girls wore white saris known as mundum-neriyathum.

CULTURAL COULDRON

When you want to experience a place, it's not just the food that connects, but also the cultural activities, and South India is known for its diverse array of classical dance forms.

BEAT THE HEAT

South India is incomplete without a dose of tender coconut water, and students from VMSIIHE could be seen exhibiting their skills at chopping tender coconuts for guests.
