Budding artists celebrate 'Janmashtami' at Goa College of Art

CELEBRATING LORD KRISHNA

The Goa College of Art in Altinho, Panjim, came alive with merriment and colour during yesterday's Dahi Handi celebrations, where students dressed up as Lord Krishna and his consort, Radha.

TRADITIONAL CHARM

Each year, as part of the Janmashtami festivities, students of the college organise a traditional breaking of dahi handi (pot of curd) event.

GETTING INTO THE RHYTHM

Several competitions were held on the occasion, while students, dressed in festive attire, were seen joyfully participating in them.

EPIC BATTLES

Students, donning creative costumes, played the role of different characters as they enacted mythological scenes from the life of Lord Krishna.

ARTFUL DEPICTION

Another glimpse of Indian mythology came in the form of a student who was dressed like Lord Krishna, complete with Kaliya, the serpent, behind.

CREATIVE STREAK

The creativity of the students could be seen in myriad ways, such as this beautiful handi (pot), painted using bright colours in designs connected with the god.

YOUNG ARTISTS

This stunning artwork of a seated Lord Krishna, playing his flute, with a cow and peacock next to him, were created by fourth year students of the Goa College of Art.
