As part of the community engagement festival, Mhadei Amchi Mai, a human prayer chain was formed on Miramar beach.
This was an initiative by The Earthivist Collective led by Miriam Koshy in association with The Goa Heritage Action Group led by Heta Pandit and the Save Mhadei Save Goa Front.
Participants were told to converge taluka-wise at several assembly points spread across six zones along the human chain route. Designated volunteers guided attendees to their respective zones.
Mhadei Amchi Mai, one of the state’s first community engagement festivals, had one strong message -- Amchi Mhadei amka zai (We want our Mhadei).
As directed, participants wore white and blue clothes, scarves and ribbons -- the colours which represent the shades of a river.
The formation of the human chain started at 4 pm on the Miramar beach and stretched upto Santa Monica Jetty.
Irrespective of the hot and humid conditions, people, including some foreigners, from all across Goa took part in the human chain making the event a huge success.
