FESTIVE FERVOUR

The Jezu Nazare (Jesus of Nazareth) feast day saw devotees thronging to the Our Lady of Annunciation Chapel in Siridão with candles and flower garlands as offerings.

STEEPED IN TRADITION

Flag bearers walked through the village, followed by a brass band which played lively, festive music all the way.

UNIQUE TO SIRIDAO

A unique aspect of this feast is the distribution of pez to the devotees. Pez is a hot rice gruel specific to Goa, traditionally consumed during this feast, which is held on the first Sunday after Easter.

FREE RIDE

Around six vehicles were arranged to ferry people from the base to the Our Lady of Annunciation Chapel, a short distance away. One can see a panoramic view of the Siridao beach and sea from the chapel premises.

The feast draws faithful from all over Goa to pay homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.

From traditional sweets like kaadio bodio to trinkets to clothes to home décor items were on sale at the festive feast air. The fair reflected the celebratory atmosphere and catered to everyone's tastes.

KIND DEED

The villagers' act of kindness could be gauged from these free-of-cost water bottles for devotees, so that they remained hydrated in the scorching summer heat.
