Solomon Souza, the grandson of the famous Goan artist, FN Souza, has been painting beautiful murals around Panjim for years. And now, he has added another masterpiece to his collection.
Solomon has painted a mural of Goa's beloved Libia Lobo Sardesai to mark her 100th birthday. Sardesai, whose birthday is on May 25, 2024, played a vital role during Goa's freedom struggle, operating the Voz de Liberdade underground radio station.
In addition to his latest work, which adorns a wall near the Panjim Church square, Solomon has previously painted numerous artistic murals in the city depicting both renowned and lesser-known figures from Goa's history.
This mural in the capital city is a portrait of the first Indian to represent the country in two different sports -- hockey and track-and-field. The Olympian held several international records including the fastest woman across continents.
He is known to be the first Goan to play for the India cricket team, and has brought laurels not just to Goa, but also the country.
