Annual harvest festival (konsachem fest) celebrated at Raia, Goa

Every year on August 5, the 'Konsachem Fest' takes place at Raia, Goa. This year the Episcopal vicar for South Zone, Fr Lucio Alexandre Dias, blessed and cut the first sheaves on the occasion. | Pictures Courtesy: Venita Gomes
The Raia comunidade is the first in Salcete to celebrate the harvest festival followed by twelve other villages of Goa on August 15.
The priest, along with the parishioners, takes out procession to the fields. You can find children dressed as angels leading the way.
Thanksgiving prayers are offered along with blessing of the fields with holy water.
The harvest is blessed, cut and then distributed among the parishioners.
The feast attracts a large fair. Various church and village committees organize programmes on the occasion of the feast.
