Highlighting the need to safeguard the environment, the importance of sustainability and celebrating community spirit, the highly-anticipated Matiechem Fest is back.

The third edition of the fest will take place on October 2, 2024 at the courtyard of the St John the Baptist Church, Pilerne, kicking off as early as 10 am.

FOCUS ON...

Emphasising the urgent need to protect Goa's land, traditions and environment, the theme for this year's festival is 'Amchi Mati Amcho Avaz' (Our Soil, Our Voice), inviting all to do their bit.

FLOATS & FUN

The festivities will begin with a heritage walk honouring St John the Baptist, St Francis of Assisi and Mahatma Gandhi; followed by a display of vibrant floats that celebrate the fields, ponds, springs, saltpans and more.

FOODIES' HAVEN

Some of the Goan delicacies on the menu at the fest are local boiled rice, Sambharchi Kodi, Pumpkin Verdure, Vonn and fried fish, to name a few.

WASTE-FREE FESTIVITY

Like the previous editions, the organisers have adopted the policy of a zero-waste celebration. People heading for the event are requested to bring their own cutlery which will help minimise plastic waste.
