Adeus, dear Rev Archbishop Raul

People from all walks of life, including bureaucrats, politicians and well known personalities paid their respects to the late Archbishop Raul.

His mortal remains were brought to the Archbishop's House, Panjim, and later to Se Cathedral, for the funeral service. His mortal remains were solemnly carried to the altar of the cathedral.

Priests and religious from across the state and country attended the funeral of the Archbishop Emeritus.

Various condolence messages were read; including from the Dicastery of Evangelisation, Rome; Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, and from Cardinal Oswald Gracias. There were also condolence messages from the Archbishop of Delhi and Secretary General of CCBI, Rev Anil Couto; Fr Alfred Vas, on behalf of priests; Sr Mussella, on behalf of the Religious; and Debbie Fernandes, on behalf of the laity.

Se Cathedral, in Old Goa, is especially marked as the final resting place for the Archbishop of Goa and Daman as it is the Seat of the Archbishop of Goa and the Mother Church of the Archdiocese.
