Goans pour out their condolences through messages, tweets and other tributes, as the legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar is laid to rest.

After battling health complications since January, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday morning.

As soon as the news of her demise went public, several people took to twitter and other social media platforms to pay tribute to the singer, whose roots are in the village of Mangeshi, Ponda. She was the daughter of the renowned singer and theatre artiste, Pt Deenanath Mangeshkar.

Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant tweeted: “Anguished by the demise of the nightingale of India, Bharat Ratna@mangeshkarlata ji. May God bestow Sadgati to this great soul. My condolences to the Mangeshkar family. Om Shanti.”

The CM was also seen paying his final tributes to the Bharat Ratna recipient at Shivaji Park Mumbai.

Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai also expressed his deepest sympathies and wrote: “#India's beloved nightingale has left us. #LataDi gifted us her voice for peace, happiness and comfort. The soul of Indian music peacefully rests! Goa will miss you dearly.”

Leader of the Opposition in the Goa Assembly Digambar Kamat said: “Didi will live till Eternity. Tributes to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar."

Founder of Museum of Goa (MOG), Subodh Kerkar, also shared a post in memory of the singer.

Mapusa MLA, Joshua De Souza wrote that the state of Goa will not forget her contributions.

Several citizens shared interesting facts and memories that they had with the late Lata Mangeshkar.
