In the final match of the futsal tournament organised by Noorani Sports and Cultural Club at New Vaddem, the Vasco Police team scored a resounding victory over the Vasco Lawyers team by scoring 3 goals.
Six teams of Mormugao municipal councillors, journalists, lawyers, police, panch members and builders participated in this tournament.
The tournament was organised on Sunday, January 22, at the futsal ground at Mangore Hill, Vasco. The competition was inaugurated in the presence of MMC chairperson Leo Rodrigues, vice chairperson Amey Chopdekar, sarpanch Jagannath (Sankalp) Mahale of Bogmalo, councillor Shami Salkar and other dignitaries.
Vasco Police and a team of lawyers from Vasco entered the final match. The police scored 3 goals, while the lawyers' team failed to surpass the number of goals.
MLA Krishna Salkar, Vasco BJP Mandal president Deepak Naik, Noorani Sports and Cultural Club president Rizwan Khan, secretary Abdul Khan, Rauf Shaikh, Arif Shaikh and dignitaries were present during the prize distribution ceremony.
The awards were presented to Stephen of the Vasco Lawyer team as the man of the match, Satish of the Vasco Police team as the man of the series and inspector Shailesh Narvekar of the Vasco Traffic Police as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
During the tournament, Goa BJP state president Sadanand Shet Tanawade, MLA Sankalp Amonkar and other dignitaries also visited the venue to witness the final match.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar was seen playing on the councillors' team in this tournament. Deputy superintendent of police Salim Shaikh, Vasco police inspector Kapil Nayak, inspector Shailesh Narvekar of the Vasco Traffic Police also played on the police team.
