U-25 State A Trophy: Middle-order carries Goa to another victory

Goa defeat Delhi in their third match of the U-25 State A Trophy.

Goa registered their second consecitive victory in the ongoing U-23 State A Trophy after defeating Delhi by five wickets in Puducherry on Wednesday.

Delhi won the toss and elected to bat first. Goa started off well and ran out opener Yatharth Singh in the fouth overs. Goan bowler Heramb Parab was in a great rhythm and took two more wickets in the next over.

The Goa bowlers continued applying pressure and reduced the Delhi batting to the score of 58-5. Delhi captain Vaibhav Kandpal and Sumit Mathur reconstructed the Delhi innings and put up a crucial 82 run partnership. The Delhi innings finally bundled up for 177 runs in 48 overs. Vaibhav Kandpal, with his 59 run knock, was the pick of the batters.

Goa's strong batting

In the second innings, Goa suffered an early setback as Soham Sameer Panvalkar was dismissed in the second over. Then heroes of the last match, Kashyap Bakhale and Manthan Khutkar stitch up a 67 for the second wicket.

Manthan narrowly missed his consecutive half-century as he was dismissed for 42 in the 15th over. He hit four fours and one six off 41 balls. Later Kashyap, batting with captain Suyash Prabhudessai, put up another 50-run partnership.

In the 26th over, Sumit Mathur dismissed Kashyap after he completed his second consecutive half a century. He hit three fours and a six in his 50 off 76 balls.

Captain Suyash also scored a half-century to give Goa its second consecutive victory. He remained unbeaten on 58 runs with six fours and two sixes in 63 balls. Goa will face Rajasthan in their next match on Thursday,25 November.
