Goa's Veteran defender Michel Castanha and striker Karishma Shirvoikar will be part of the Indian squad for the upcoming AFC Women’s Cup.
The women’s Asia Cup will be held from January 20 to February 6, 2022, in India. The preparations for the tournament has been underway and camp has been set up in Jharkhand for the Indian team.
While star player Bala Devi, who plays as a forward for Scottish Women's Premier, will part take in this camp after analysing her fitness as she is suffering from an injury, Defender Dalima Chibber will leave the camp after ten days to play in the Candian League for the Manitoba Bisons.
Thomas Dennerby, a former coach of the Nigeria women's national football team, has been appointed as the coach of the senior women's team.
Besides the AFC Cup, India will also host the FIFA U-17 World Cup next year in October.
