Cooch Behar Trophy: Maharashtra defeats Goa in two days

Maharashtra defeated Goa by an innings and 65 runs.

Maharashtra clinically defeated Goa by an innings and 65 runs on the second day of their first match of the Cooch Behar Trophy. The Goa team was all out twice on the second day in their defeat.

At the end of first day's play, Maharashtra had scored 287 in their first innings while Goa scored nine runs for zero wickets.

At the start of the second day, Maharashtra bowler Tilak Jadhav ran through Goa's batting order as he took 6 for 42. Eventually, the Goa first innings folded for just 88 runs. Goa was invited to bat again as Maharashtra took the follow on.

In the second innings, Goa's batting woes continued as the team was bundled out for 134 runs. Maharashtra's A. Nishad took five wickets for 48 runs.

In both innings, Goa batted for a combined 65.2 overs with only three batters scoring in double figures.

Goa number nine batter Manish Kakode countered the Maharashtra bowlers with a scintillating half-century in the second innings. Manish hit 54 off 54 balls with ten fours and one six. Besides, opener Chittem Devankumar Manish was the only Goa batter to score double-digit runs in both innings.

Goa's next match is on December 6 against Tamil Nadu in Surat while Maharashtra will face Chhattisgarh at the C K Pithawala Ground on 6 December.
