Asmita Ray leads in the Dharbandora taluka Chess Association's girls state-level tournament

Asmita Ray defeated top seed Tanvi Hadkonkar to take the lead with three points in the Girls category.

The state-level chess tournament for girls under 20 (open) organised by Dharbandora Taluka Chess Association started on Sunday, 26 December at KP Government College Hall.

A total of 53 players took part in both groups.

In the open category, 35 chess players took part, while 18 players participated in the Girls category. Devesh Naik took a joint lead with Mandar Lad and Ruben Kulaso, with three points each in the open group after the three rounds.

In the girls' category, Asmita Ray defeated top seed Tanvi Hadkonkar to take the lead with three points. Second seed Gunjal Chopdekar was stopped by Netra Sawaikar. Both of them now have the same two and a half marks.
