A total of Rs. 57,000 worth of foreign-made liquor that was illegally sold has been seized in a raid conducted by the excise department in Vasco on Thursday.
The trumpet of state's assembly elections has sounded and since the announcement of elections, the electoral system in the state has become more active. In every constituency of the taluka, inspection and vigilance teams have been deployed. Excise team has also been activated in each taluka.
The excise department has also imposed time restrictions on bars, restaurants and liquor shops as the distribution of money and liquor is likely to be huge during the election campaign.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the election, Rajesh Salelkar and Mukund Gavas, inspectors of Vasco's excise department in action at various places seized liquor worth Rs. 75,000 illegally available for sale.
Alcohol, which was made available at the liquor store, was confiscated during the operation.
The action was taken by Vithoba Malvankar, Datta Kavthankar, Ritesh Toraskar, Shabbir Sheikh and Devidas Tirodkar of Vasco Excise Department under the guidance of Vasco Excise Inspector Mukund Gavas and Rajesh Salelkar.
