Mormugao Municipal Council is all set to host Vasco Carnival starting from February 27 to March 1.
The Carnival will be inaugurated on Sunday, February 27, infornt of the Mormugao Municipal Building.
Speaking during the press conference, Mormugao Chief Officer, Jayant Tari said, “Goa's cultural tradition is famous all over the world and one of its hallmarks is the carnival festival. The Vasco Carnival parade will start on February 28 at 3 pm in the presence of the chief guest South Goa District Collector, Ruchika Katyal, and the Vasco Carnival will be inaugurated on February 27.”
While the traditional float parade is slated to be held on February 28 in Vasco, various cultural programmes and other activities will happen alongside which are planned by Vasco Carnival Committee and sponsored Goa Tourism Department.
On Sunday, February 27 at 6.30 pm there will be a costume competition for the junior and sub-junior categories. Famed Konkani singer, Norman Cardozo will also perform at 8 pm at Vasco.
On Tuesday, March 1, a dance performance by local dancers will be held at 6 pm. A programme of ‘Volu’ Konkani music has been organized at 7 pm.
Tari appealed to the citizens to abide by the rules imposed by the committee.
General Secretary and Accounts and Taxation Officer of Mormugao Municipality, Francisco Rodriguez and Treasurer and Municipal Engineer, Deniz D'Mello, were present at the conference.
