One killed in an accident at Farmagudi

A truck driving from Ponda to Farmagudi collided with the bike and dragged the victim for over 15 metres

A 47-years-old, resident of Cuncolim-Priol died on the spot, while his wife suffered injuries in an accident at GMV's circle, Farmagudi on Friday, February 25.

The deceased have been identified as Arjun Laxman Naik, 47, a native of Thane, Maharashtra, and his wife identified as Anushka Naik.

According to Ponda Police, the fatal accident took place around 8 pm when the bike rider-- Naik, came under the wheels of the truck.

Naik along with his wife had come to Ponda market for shopping. When they arrived at GVM circle, Farmagudi, a truck driving from Ponda to Farmagudi collided with the bike and dragged the victim for over 15 meters.

The injured wife was immediately shifted to the Sub District Hospital, Ponda, and later to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for treatment.

Ponda Police registered an offence against the driver of the truck, Sagar Dina Naik (42), a native of Belgaum, currently residing at Panchawadi, Shiroda, for rash driving and arrested him.
