Ahead of next month's Goa Assembly elections, Verna and Vasco police in Mormugao taluka seized bottles of liquor worth Rs 93,429 from a restaurant on Wednesday, January 19.
The seized bottles have been handed over to Vasco's excise office.
Goa Police and Excise Department have stepped up patrols in the run-up to the elections and raids are underway at various places.
Meanwhile, police conducted raid in a fast food restaurant last night and seized 377 bottles of liquor and 340 cans of beer stored in the restaurant, worth Rs. 53,429.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Verna Police Station Inspector Diego Gracias.
In another raid, Vasco police, under the guidance of Vasco police inspector Nitin Halankar, seized liquor worth Rs 40,000 and seized 474 bottles from a bar.
A total of Rs 93,429 worth of unaccounted liquor bottles were seized by the police at both the places.
