Colva police suspect another individual involved in Varca murder case

Colva police on Sunday arrested Jubel Martins, 37, daughter of 80-year-old Trinade Martins, who as found brutally murdered at his residence

After arresting Trinade Martins' daughter Jubel, Colva police suspects that another person is involved in the murder of an 80-year-old man at his residence in Varca.

Colva police on Sunday arrested Jubel Martins, 37, daughter of 80-year-old Trinade Martins, who as found brutally murdered at his residence in Varca on Thursday, February 17 in Varca.

According to the Colva Police, the victim was staying alone at his residence, and was found dead on Thursday. There were several wounds on his body.

Police suspect that the manner in which the attack took place was carried out by a man and that Jubel may have conspired with the unidentified accused to carry out the murder.

Martins had a strained relationship with his daughter. They had a dispute over home ownership. As a result, the police suspected that his own daughter had committed the crime.

Jubel, who was arrested on Sunday, was produced in court late on Monday and remanded in police custody for seven days. She has not yet confessed to the murder, said Colva Police Inspector Melson Colaco.

Police have registered an offence under Section 302 of the IPC for committing murder and under Section 449 of the IPC for criminally trespassing into the house.
