Melauli villagers on Tuesday, December 28, took out a bike rally in Satari taluka against Valpoi MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to protest against for misusing his position during the agitation for the IIT project.

Villagers have accused Vishwajit Rane of persuading Chief Minister to file criminal charges on 40 protestors.

Shubham Shivolkar, deputy co-ordinator of the Panchkroshi Gram Bachav Andolan Committee said, "We started our rally this morning with the blessings of God by gathering at this place. Today, some wards of Guleli, Khotode, Savarde, Nangargaon, Dongurli and Valpoi municipalities have been completed and we will complete the remaining part."

He further said that if the government does not give us a written assurance in the next four days, then the government will be responsible for whatever decision we take after that.

PI Mohan Gaude stopped the bike rally, when the villagers were moving towards Usgao and Ganjem villages. The PI informed them that the Chief Minister would be attending a function in Ganjem, thus they would be unable to conduct a rally there.

Convenor of the Melauli Panchkroshi Gram Bachav Andolan Shashikant Savardekar, Shankar Naik, Vishwesh Parab and others were present.
