The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) seized cannabis estimated at Rs 8.70 lakh in Panaji on Monday night.
Police Inspector Suraj Halarnakar said that the ANC arrested two youths around midnight yesterday and seized 8.7 kg of cannabis from them.
The person arrested has been identified as Rama Maulali Subharao (40) from Andhra Pradesh and Santosh Kumar Acharya (35) from Odisha.
"The police had received concrete information that drug dealers were roaming around Pato in Panaji city at night. We were on patrol in plainclothes since last evening. Around 10 pm, when a young man came to the Pato-Panaji area, his movements were found suspicious. He was found with marijuana in his possession," he said.
According to the police, the accused were looking for customers and had come to Goa just a few days back in search of a job.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that they started selling drugs after they couldn't find a job.
