The opening ceremony of a project at Ganjem

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday, December 28, said that government will not compromise on Mhadei issue.
"The government will not compromise on the mhadei river as it is the lifeline of 60 per cent of the people of Goa". Sawant said on the sidelines of opening ceremony of a project by the Water Resources Department, at Ganjem.
The Chief Minister further said that the project of 64 lakh cubic metres of water storage has been set up at a cost of Rs.110 crore. "For the next ten years, Ponda and Tiswadi talukas will not face shortage of drinking water," Sawant said.
This project has been set up by former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
He congratulated the engineer of the department, Pramod Badami and his colleagues,as the department completed the work on the project in two years.
The families who gave free land for the project were felicitated by the chief minister with bouquets.
"The government has promoted the development of Goa through infrastructure and efforts will definitely be made to enrich goa in the next five years," Sawant said.
Public Works Minister Deepak Pauskar, Usgao Zilla Panchayat Member Umakant Gawde, Usgao-Ganjem Panchayat Sarpanch Asmita Gawde, Usgao Ganjem Panchayat Member Sushma Gaonkar, Pali Sarpanch Prashila Gawde, Deputy Sarpanch of Panchayat Mahesh Gavas, Vishal Deshpande and others were present on the occasion.
