In the wake of a high number of accidents occurring at Pernem and Karaswada junction, a flyover will soon come up at the Pernem junction in Mapusa City, Public works Minister Deepak Pauskar informed on Tuesday, December.

The project will cost around Rs 11 crore and funds are allotted by the state or central government.

"A large number of minor and major accidents had taken place in Pede and Karaswada areas during the last one year due to the contractor not taking necessary precautions in diverting traffic during the highway widening work. As a result, the name of the state government became a bit infamous.

Pauskar assured the public that work for the flyover will be at the earliest. "There is a demand for a flyover from Pede Sports Project to Mapusa District Hospital. The department has put a proposal for it and this work will cost Rs 11 crore.
