Youth flock to Goa govt job fair

South Goa will have a similar job fair to allow more youth employment opportunities

A large number of youths flocked to the job fair organised at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium on Tuesday morning. Around 18,500 youth registered themselves at this job fair which would allow them a job opportunity among 120 plus private companies.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who was the chief guest at the mega job fair 2022 held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium on Tuesday, appreciated the change in attitude of the Goan youth in seeking employment.

The CM announced an improvement in wages, and a 2 per cent reservation for the Home Guards and the housekeeping staff in the Goa Police, fire safety and other government departments.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant was a chief guest of this mega job fair event on Tuesday.

The CM also warned the government departments to work hard or else they would be given compulsory retirement from service (CRS). Henceforth, it will be mandatory to have at least 1 year of experience to obtain a government job. This is being done to secure the best human resource in the government sector.

Furthermore, Dr Sawant also made an announcement that soon the Goa government will implement a central government ordinance in private sector companies of Goa to ensure job security and a better reach of government facilities to the private company employees. He also urged the private sector companies to pass on these government schemes to their employees.

Large number of youth attended this mega job fair with high expectations to get a job.

He also appreciated the overwhelming response that this mega job fair received and said that it is good to see that the mindset of the Goan youth is changing and that they are also willing to take up private sector jobs.

He also said that from now on the recruitment for government jobs will be done through a staff selection commission. No MLAs and ministers will be able to give jobs, and candidates will have to compete by clearing exams at the staff selection commission to get a job.

The response to the mega job fair was overwhelming with 18500 youth registering for this job fair.

The CM emphasised the upgradation and addition of new courses and educational qualifications by Goan youth so that they will be able to have better job opportunities. He later announced the organisation of one more mega job fair in Margao after three months so that youth from South Goa could benefit from it.

During this function, Panjim MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monseratte, CCP Mayor Rohit Monseratte and others were present. This job fair will conclude on Wednesday evening.
