Vales junction in Dabolim, near MES College, has become a red zone for commuters owing to the numerous vehicular accidents recently. Locals have demanded that this junction be made safer for commuters by making the existing traffic signal functional.

For many months, there have been several vehicular accidents witnessed during all hours of the day near the traffic signal at the Vales junction in Dabolim. The main reason behind these accidents is believed to be the faulty traffic signal which was meant to facilitate the smooth and safe movement of traffic.

Traffic signal at Vales junction needs immediate repair.

A local named Gaurish Borkar said that these junctions need to have functional traffic signals. Several people have been severely injured and even lost their lives after meeting with an accident at this junction. “The existing traffic signal at the Vales junction needs to be repaired and maintained periodically,” he said.

Darsheel Bagkar said that whenever he has travelled through this junction, he has observed that many two-wheeler riders jump the red light. Due to the non-functioning traffic signal at the Vales junction, vehicles coming from three different directions become confused.

Shilpa Harmalkar, a teacher, said that the traffic signal at Vales junction is a must, considering the volume of traffic and the number of vehicles that ply through this junction. There are college students and old people who use this junction. Chances are high that if the traffic signal is not repaired in time, then it might invite more vehicular accidents, leading to more deaths.
