Speeding car of Russian tourist mows down 3 in Goa's Arpora

Goa's tourism script this season continues to be smeared in red when, on Saturday, early morning at around 3.30, a 27-year-old Russian tourist's speeding car mowed down three Indian tourists to death.

It is learnt that the deceased were trying to board a car parked on the road at Arpora in Bardez. The speeding car driven by the Russian, Anton Bychkov, plunged into the nullah after hitting the three tourists.

Bychkov, too, was also critically injured and is undergoing treatment at GMC in Bamboilim.

The names of the deceased are Mahesh Sharma from Nashik, Dilip Kumar Bang and Monoj Kumar Soni, both from Hyderabad.

It is reportedly learnt that five friends from Hyderabad and Pune had gone to a restaurant. Three of them were knocked down by the speeding car when they were opening the car door to get inside. The impact was so strong that the three tourists were killed and the two seated inside were injured.

According to Anjuna police, the accident took place when the deceased were about to get into the car parked on the other side of the road.

Among these friends, one was on the driver's seat and the other was sitting on the side. Both of them suffered minor injuries, they said.

The police have sent the bodies of the three deceased for post-mortem.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivaba Dalvi, strict action will be taken against the Russian car driver who caused the accident.

YOUTH KILLED AT GUIRIM

If the Arpora accident wasn't enough, a few hours later a youth from Corjuem in Aldona was killed on the spot at Guirim while trying to overtake a truck.

The 23-year-old Videsh Pole came under the rear wheel of a truck when he was was travelling from Parra towards Green Park. The truck was also traveling in the same direction.

The driver of the truck Raghunath Pawar from Kolhapur was detained by the Mapusa police for investigation.
