Rs 3 crore sanctioned for proposed bus stand at Mapusa

MAPUSA: The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) vice chairman Joshua D’Souza informed that the Goa government has sanctioned Rs 3 crore for temporary upliftment of the land proposed for a new bus stand at Mapusa. Officials along with the consultant Rahul Deshpande and officers from KTC and GSIDC recently inspected the proposed site in regards to temporary upliftment of the land proposed for the new bus stand at Mapusa which is located near the existing facility. The Mapusa MLA informed that chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant sanctioned Rs 3 crore for temporary arrangement and to solve the parking and congestion problem at the existing bus stand.

During the inspection, entry and exit point, smooth movement of traffic, flow of water during the monsoon and other issues were discussed. The upliftment work of the proposed land for the new bus stand will witness the development of basic necessities like tiling, asphalting, pavers, illumination and toilets for the commuters. At the same time there will be shed constructed for commuters and parking of the interstate buses before the onset of monsoons. This land acquired for the construction of a new bus stand at Mapusa was lying unutilized for the last five years.
