Several states have announced new restrictions and regulations for ahead of New year celebrations in India. Goa is the only state that has not announced any curbs. However, if you are planning to bring in 2022 at a new year party or event in Goa, then keep a vaccination certificate or Covid-19 negative report handy.

Goa government on Wednesday, December 29, has made a double vaccination certificate or Covid-19 negative report mandatory for people attending parties or entering restaurants in Goa.

"We need a double vaccinate certificate or covid negative report if anyone is attending any party or restaurant and it will be strictly checked. Because goans have almost have 96% double vaccinated and who ever is organising any event should look for certificates compulsory or else the event should not be held," Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, adding that an order to the effect would be issued later on Wednesday.

"The order will be passed by the collector today and implementation will be done through the home department," he added.

He said that organisers of the event would have to ensure that the guests carry these certificates.

Meanwhile, tourists have been arriving in large numbers in Goa to celebrate the new year this season despite rising COvid-19 cases in the state.

Even as Covid cases crossed the three-figure mark on Tuesday, Sawant refused to impose curfew or restrictions, stating that his government did not want to impede the tourism business.

"The decision to impose strict curbs to control the spread of Covid would be taken on January 3 at the task force meeting," CM Sawant told reporters on Tuesday.

Tourist footfalls to the coastal state have peaked in the wake of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
