VASCO: Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said that the former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar was a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in transforming Goa as a progressive and model State by undertaking all round development and infrastructure works.
Paying rich tributes to late Parrikar on the occasion of his first death anniversary at the BJP office at New Vaddem, Vasco, Mauvin said that late Parrikar was elevated as Union Defence Minister and was also nominated on the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which was a proud moment for all Goans. He said that Parrikar was sworn-in as Chief Minister on four occasions and gave good governance to the people with his administrative capabilities. Late Parrikar was a visionary leader, who always thought about long-term development and progress of the State.
Mauvin also claimed that Parrikar will be remembered not only by Goans, but also by people across the country for his bold decision ‘Josh Fever’ (spirit) on surgical strikes that was carried out on terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in retaliation to the Uri attack in September 2016.
He also appealed to the gathering to take precautions in the wake of novel coronavirus scare and to avoid handshaking and to start greeting people with 'Namaste.' he also requested them to avoid mass gatherings, meetings, functions and crowded places.
Sancoale Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Member-elect Adv Anita Thorat, Mormugao councillor Gaurish Mardolkar, Chicalim sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira, deputy sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav and panchayat members Marie Mascarenhas and Robert Falcao, Chicolna-Bogmalo sarpanch Lorraine D’Cunha and panchayat member Laxman Kavlekar and Sankalp Mahale, South Goa District BJP secretary Santosh Kerkar, Dabolim BJP Mandal president Sandeep Sood and Tulshidas Patekar were also present.
