Nigerian national held in Guirim with drugs worth Rs 13.62 lakh

Police found 9.41 grams of LSD liquid and 42.28 grams of cocaine in his possession.

The Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Goa police on Sunday, December 26, caught a Nigerian national, who was in possession of narcotic drugs worth Rs 13.62 lakh, at a parking lot near St Diogo's Church, Guirim.

According to the police, they arrested a Nigerian suspect while the anti-drug squad was on patrol. The accused has been identified as Anuligwoh Kasmir Chibueze. Police found him in possession of 9.41 grams of LSD liquid and 42.28 grams of cocaine, which have been valued at around 13.62 lakh in the international market.

Police said that he was staying in a rented room in Parra, but no drugs were found there.

Due to the large number of tourists visiting Goa, the business of narcotics is also on the rise.

According to senior officials, the state is visited by innumerable tourists owing to Christmas and New Year, therefore instructions have been given to keep an eye for anyone behaving in a suspicious manner.

Recently, the Director General of Police Indradev Shukla had stated that efforts were being made to make Goa a drug-free state.
