Education holds a pivotal rank among the factors leading towards the advancement of a community. For this, timely reforms and investment to improve the overall quality, and thereby create a learning environment aligned to the modern times, is essential.
As a commitment in this direction, the new campus of the National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) at Cuncolim, is set to be inaugurated. Heading to Goa on February 6, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will ensure one thing by the end of his trip – he will leave young aspirants at the NIT motivated.

THE JOURNEY TO THE NEW CAMPUS
Established in 2010, by an act of Parliament and declared as an ‘Institute of National Importance’, the National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) initially started functioning as a transit campus within the premises of Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi, Ponda.
It was only in 2017 that the quest for a permanent campus finally ended when the Goa government transferred a plot of land admeasuring 113 acres in Cuncolim to NIT Goa.
The following year, on December 15, the foundation stone for the institute was laid by Parrikar in the presence of Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar, strengthening the vision and hopes of many.
In the following years, meticulous planning led to building infrastructure that would be conducive to academic and extracurricular pursuits. With a construction cost of Rs 390.83 crore, the campus was built using RCC Precast 3S Technology.
TAILOURED FOR DREAMS
Today, the campus stands tall with a built up area of 70,750 sqm and with a capacity to accommodate about 1,260 students. The new campus, designed to facilitate students on their endeavours, offers various facilities that include tutorial complex, departmental complex, seminar complex, administrative complex, hostels, health centre, staff quarters, amenity centre, sports ground and other utilities.
