PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday stated in the Legislative Assembly that migrants were involved in 85 per cent of crimes occurring in Goa and appealed to the people to verify antecedents of migrants before renting out their rooms and flats to them.
Congratulating the Fatorda police for cracking the double murder case reported at Old Market-Margao on Monday within 12 hours, the Chief Minister said that migrants arriving in Goa were indulging in crimes. He told the House that migrants were involved in 85 per cent of crimes happening in the State.
He appealed to the people to verify the antecedents of the migrants before letting out their rooms and flats to them and to inform the nearest police station before renting out rooms to them.
He said that in the double murder case reported at Old Market, Margao, both the accused and the victims were migrants. The Chief Minister congratulated the police team for cracking the double murder case within 12 hours and added that the IGP Jaspal Singh had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the police team.
