Manohar International Airport (GOX), developed and operated by GMR Goa International Airport Ltd (GGIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd (GIL), proudly announces an exciting new chapter in its journey with the commencement of direct flights to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).
The inaugural Indigo flight to Abu Dhabi from the Manohar International Airport is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 12.25 am.
Travellers will soar across the skies and arrive at Abu Dhabi International Airport at 2.15 am, opening up a seamless gateway to the Middle East.
The return Indigo flight from AUH will take off at 3.15 am and touch down at GOX at 8.10 am. This remarkable service is set to operate three times a week – on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
RV Sheshan, CEO of GGIAL, expressed his fervour on this momentous occasion, saying, "Our excitement knows no bounds as we introduce Abu Dhabi as a prominent destination in our ever-expanding international network."
Sheshan explained that this direct flight offers not only increased tourist accessibility from the UAE to Goa but also facilitates travel from the Konkan region to the UAE and beyond.
With the addition of captivating new destinations and enhanced flight frequencies, GOX is poised to extend its influence worldwide.
“Our airport, bolstered by impeccable infrastructure, including essential e-Visa facility is now fully equipped to facilitate international travel. These connections don't just enrich tourism in Goa; they also stimulate socio-economic growth within the region," Sheshan added.
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi inaugurated the Manohar International Airport on December 11, 2022, and since then the airport has rapidly established itself as a domestic aviation hub, with operations commencing on January 5, 2023.
Within a mere three months, MIA has surged into the top 20 airports in India based on domestic traffic data from March 2023.
Demonstrating its vigour, the airport now embarks on international operations just seven months after its domestic launch, marking a new era in global connectivity.
The introduction of direct flights to Abu Dhabi reinforces the airport's dedication to elevating the travel experience and fostering seamless global connections.
