Months ahead of the state elections, Veteran Congress leader and sitting MLA from Navelim Luizinho Faleiro on Monday met Speaker Rajesh Patnekar and tendered his resignation as Navelim MLA.
Earlier in the day, the two-time Goa chief minister addressed the party workers in Navelim.
‘I suffered in silence, dignified silence. If my suffering was so much, imagine the plight of Goans who voted Congress to power,” he told the gathering of party workers.
He also praised TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, saying that she is a “symbol of women empowerment” and called her “street fighter”
“Among everyone, it is Mamata Banerjee who has given a tough fight to Narendra Modi and their juggernaut. Modiji had 200 meetings in Bengal and Amit Shah had 250 meetings, and then there was CBI, ED but Mamata’s formula won. She has been able to stand. She is a street fighter. Goa is also going through difficult times. We need such fighters who are also on the same wavelength, party, ideology, principles and programmes. Goa needs her,” he said.
He also shared a picture on Twitter with the hashtag ‘new beginnings’ on Monday morning. “Let's end this suffering of Goans and bring a new dawn in Goa,” the former chief minister tweeted.
