Young engineers Suraj Chitkar and Janak Halarnakar from Tuem are working hard to develop an island, which they named Sai Island, in the river Chapora at Tuem, Pernem as an eco-friendly tourist destination. "Goa's tourism should not only depend on beaches but also attract tourists to inland tourist destinations", the engineers said.

There are hundreds of coconut trees on the island and Suraj Chitkar and Janak Halarnakar are working hard to provide eco-friendly tourism in the shade of these trees. Both of them are striving to make their lives meaningful by providing employment to others instead of getting government jobs for themselves.

The state government has declared Goa a 365-day tourism paradise. Apart from the beaches, the government has also implemented several schemes to promote tourism in the hinterland. Chitkar and Halarnakar have taken it upon themselves to make the plan a reality. They have invested in developing the island at Tuem as a tourist destination and are currently developing the island with facilities to promote tourism. Mechanical boats are provided to reach the island from the mainland.
