Inspection of Margao-Sanvordem double track to be conducted on September 23

The double-tracking is expected to improved connectivity and will lead to enhanced tourist arrival in Goa.

The commissioner of the Railway Safety Board (CRS) will conduct an inspection of the 15-kilometer newly laid double line of South Central Railway between Margao and Sanvordem on September 23.

The speed trial of the locomotives at the speed of 120kmph will be tested on the double track from 5:30 am to 6 pm from Margao to Sanvordem, a press note by Aneesh Hedge, chief PRO of the South Western Railway said.

The railways had completed the work despite strong opposition from Salcete Taluka. Eight underpasses and overbridges have also been constructed along the route to avoid road congestion, railway sources said.

The double-tracking is expected to improved connectivity and will lead to enhanced tourist arrival in Goa.

Although the Sanvordem-Margao double lane project has been complete, the work between Margao and Vasco is still incomplete and there is still opposition to the route at Kasauli in South Goa.
