Chetna Charitable Trust has made a world of a difference to the special children of Goa with the inauguration of an expansive and well-equipped school and rehabilitation centre. PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral and Social Welfare Minister Subhash Faldessai graced the momentous occasion on Sunday morning.

Minister of PWD Nilesh Cabral and the Minister of Social Welfare Subhash Faldessai inaugurated the special school.

Rajoo Naik, the organiser and head of school management, and other teaching and non-teaching staff at the special school extended a cordial welcome to the ministers and other dignitaries.

Faldessai and Cabral were given a tour of the school premises and apprised of the various facilities, activities and learning curricula that special children could avail of at this new institution.

When interacting with the media, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Faldessai said, “It is a good initiative by the school management to build such an infrastructure which will cater to special children.”

Faldessai also made note of the work being done by his department which has made great progress in bettering the lives of special children and people with disabilities. The minister made a special mention of Goa’s festival of inclusivity, the Purple Fest, which was successfully organised by the Directorate of Social Welfare.

Balloons were released by the dignitaries and special children during the inauguration ceremony.

There are various events and activities taking place where people with disabilities are able to make themselves economically self-sufficient. “Many well-known companies have contacted our department and are happy to employ differently-abled people in their companies," he said.

Special children presented the national anthem in a unique way during the function.

PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral said, “This school will give good education to special kids.  It was a long pending dream of Rajoo Naik, and it has come true.” This institution will help special children extensively, who otherwise find learning more difficult as compared to other children.

Visitors to the school were astounded at the excellent facilities, comprising a large garden, a play area and various classrooms offering motor development, cognitive and other skill development. Teaching and non-teaching staff to cater to the special children studying at this institute are numerous and capable.
