Goa settles for the runner-up spot in the boys' group at the 28th National Junior Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament after losing to Uttar Pradesh by five runs in the final on Thursday.
In the final, Uttar Pradesh scored 43 runs in the allotted six overs batting first. While Goa's Puneet Khandeparkar took two wickets, Vijay Halgekar and Saish Gawde took one wicket each.
Chasing the modest total in the second innings, Goa lost five wickets in the allotted six overs and scored 38 runs.

Before losing in the final, Goa defeated Vidarbha by 27 runs in the pre-quarter-finals. Later, Goa defeated Mumbai in the quarter-finals and Bihar in the semi-finals.
In the girls' group, Goa reached the semi-finals but failed to defeat Maharashtra. The match went right to the wire and was tied. Unfortunately for the Goans, Maharashtra held their nerves and won the match in the super over.
