Goa logs 971 new Covid-19 cases, Positivity rate jumps to 20%

Covid-19 cases continue to soar as Goa reported 971 new infections and two deaths on Thursday, January 6.

With 4744 tests done in the last 24 hours, the positivity rate rose to 20.46 per cent, 3 per cent up from Wednesday. With new cases, the active caseload in the state has reached 4613.

The Margao urban health centre has the highest number of active cases, 582, followed by Panaji, 532, Cansaulim, 354, Porvorim, 290, Vasco, 287, Cortalim, 274, Mapusa, 244 and Ponda, 205.

With 74 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone up to 176625.

The total count of Covid-19 cases involving the Omicron variant has also jumped to 19 with five patients being local residents from Margao, Bardez, Chicalim, and Canacona and with no travel history.
