Goa on Friday, December 31, reported 212 fresh Covid-19 infections as the positivity rate marginally dropped to 6.98 per cent as against 7.2 per cent on Thursday.
With the new infections, the case tally has risen to 1,80,872 while with one death in the last 24 hours, the death toll has reached 3522.
State's active caseload has breached 1000-mark and touched 1046.
The active caseload for Panaji urban health centre remains at 120, the highest across all the centres, while that of Margao jumped from 87 to 112.
Other centres that recorded a significant increase in infections were Cansaulim from 72 to 91, Cortalim from 56 to 69, Loutolim from 39 to 48, Mapusa from 38 to 53, Porvorim from 55 to 65.
Meanwhile, Five outbound international travellers and Seven passengers from the UK and UAE also tested positive at Dabolim international airport on Friday. They have been placed in an isolation facility.
Till Friday, Goa has reported only a single case of the Omicron variant.
Although the Covid cases started rising from last week, the steep rise in the fresh cases witnessed from Monday is a worrying sign. As many as 745 cases have been reported over the last four days.
The Goa government has been hesitant to impose night curfew and Covid-19 related restrictions in view of the festive season and a high number of tourists in the state for the new year celebration.
