Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched Pink force to prevent crimes against women

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday, December 16, launched Goa police's 'Pink Force' to prevent crime against women, children and tourists.
Sawant said the Pink Force would start in 11 police stations in the initial stage before being expanded to all units.
"The all-women force has been trained to handle all kind of situations and would be working to prevent crime. The force will be operational round the clock catering to women, children and tourists," he said.

Sawant said that Goa has become the first state to introduce 'pink force'.
Goa DGP ID Shukla said that if any woman calls the police control room, the pink force will reach the spot within five minutes and detain the accused. "The pink force will not be involved in investigation of crime but will work for prevention of crime," he said.
"If anyone dials 112 or 110, this force will reach the area within 5 minutes. Pink Force will also patrol beach areas and provide medical aid in case a woman complains of abuse or accident," he added.
It's worth noting that the deployment of special women forces came at a time when the ruling party was under criticism for the state's deteriorating law and order situation.
Deputy Chief Minster Chandrakant Kavlekar and Panjim MLA Babush Monserrate among others were present at the occassion.
